Children and Teenagers are our future! This simple sentence embodies much more than just a “saying”. Over the past 7 years of my studies in Sports Science at the University of Basel, I learned how important the physical education of children and teenagers is. Not just regarding their skills but also their health in the future. That’s why I decided to start a kids and teens program at CrossFit HelvetiX together with our team in order to pass my knowledge to the next generation with the goal to prepare them for the physical, social and mental tasks coming up in their lives!

I am a father of two kids and try to get them access to a great variety of different sports activities. There is nothing more important than building a foundation for health, movement and joy. I was lucky to do a lot of sports very early on and today i`m a full time coach & trainer, helping people of all ages to live a healthy life. I trained kids in gymnastics & martial arts and supported “Volley Intensiv” and “Basel Talents”, two successful programs for teens. Fitness for kids should be fun, safe, inclusive and build self-confidence. This is the way.

Structured and guided CrossFit® Training for Kids between the ages 6 and 10 years and Teens at the age of 11+ years with the focus on building the basics of coordinative skills so as physical condition and strength!
The Structure
EFFICIENT AND AGE SPECIFIC TRAINING!
Children and adolescents are at different stages of physical development and maturation. Accordingly, individual goals and perceptions of exercise and sport differ depending on age. Therefore, it is extremely important to adjust the content of the training sessions according to the individual motor skills and conditional capacities.
CREATING AN EDUCATIONAL AND FUN SETTING FOR EVERYONE!
That’s why we offer a total of two different age-specific programs in order to neither underchallenge nor overchallenge the participants. By enjoying movement and exercise with like-minded peers, our program creates even more joy and results in even bigger progresses! To ensure a safe and guided environment our classes provide only 10 total spots for every lesson to ensure that our coaches can teach the children and teens properly and effectively.
HELVEKIDS FOR CHILDREN BETWEEN 6 – 10 YEARS!
Our HelveKids program focuses on learning fundamental movements required in everyday life and all sports disciplines by building basic physical conditioning and coordinative competences through exciting games and fun challenges with children between the ages of 6 and 10.
HELVETEENS FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS AT THE AGE OF 11+ YEARS!
Our HelveTeens program sets its focus on a more advanced learning environment to deepen conditioning and coordination skills for youth between the ages of 11 and 16, setting the base for future participation in CrossFit® or different sports and/or enhanced performance in the specific sport disciplines practiced alongside CrossFit®.
The Schedule
HELVEKIDS ON SATURDAY AT 09:00 – 10:00 & HELVETEENS ON WEDNESDAY AT 16:00 – 17:00!
The HelveKids lessons always start on Saturday at 09:00 while the HelveTeens lessons start on Wednesday at 16:00. Both courses will last for a total of 60 Minutes (HelveKids until 10:00/ HelveTeens until 17:00). Both lessons are taking place with our experienced Coach Dominik Buchmann, who developed the course and led it since the beginning. Separating the HelveKids and HelveTeens lessons allows us to implement our professional programming and coaching in an age specific way which allows us to enhance not just fun but also the performance and skills in the most efficient way.
OUR COACHES ARE THERE FOR YOU!
Our coaches are always in place 15 minutes prior to and after the class to be at your disposal if there are any questions or terms to be discussed!
NO LESSONS DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!
Our programming incorperates the school holidays. That means that there are no lessons during the official school holidays in Basel. Details will always be announced in the classes.

The Lesson Plan
60 MINUTES OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Every lesson lasts for a total of 60 minutes. In every session the coaches set the focus on a coordinative, a strength, a conditional and a social aspect with the goal to progressively educate proper movement in a individual and/or team setting.
A PLAYFUL WARM UP
Every lesson starts at the whiteboard with a “Get together” where the Children receive an initial overview of the lesson from the coaches to get to know what to expect throughout the 60 minutes. In a playful warm up, the children will then be prepared for the movements according to the daily program.
COORDINATION
During a first coordinative skill part the participants learn more about one of the 7 coordinative skills: balance, orientation, coupling, rhythm, reaction, differentiation, transition.
GYMNASTICS & STRENGTH
After learning new coordinative skills the participants will then be led into a advanced skill part where the focus is set on transferring the learned coordinative skill into a strength and gymnastics element.
CONDITIONING
In a final workout the children learn to solve physical tasks and challenges alone or together in teams with the goal to increase their endurance capacity through fun and play.
RECAP & COOLDOWN
Every lesson concludes with a fun cool down game, a recap of the learned skills and a quick preview of the next lesson.
